John Hetherington

John is a director in Leathwaite’s Global HR practice, partnering with CEOs to hire CHROs and with CHROs to build their leadership teams. Since specialising in HR, John has run global searches for Fortune 10 and FTSE 100 businesses, for private partnerships, SMEs and PE-backed companies, looking cross-industry for transferable skill-sets with a lens on diversity of thought and experience. John has partnered with clients everywhere from West Coast US to Australia and has a keen interest in theories of leadership in multi-cultural organizations.

John first joined Leathwaite’s CFO practice in 2010 before moving to join, then subsequently lead, the firm’s APAC business, where he delivered C-suite and leadership-level mandates from India to Australia before taking time out to travel and write a book. John re-joined Leathwaite in 2020 to help develop the capability of the firm’s global HR practice.

Education

John holds a BA in Modern Foreign Languages from Durham University and has recently graduated from Birkbeck College with an MSc in Organizational Psychology, where he studied leadership assessment, motivation, organizational change, performance and learning & development, and wrote a dissertation on hybrid working.
